Between live oaks, lakefront sunsets and historic venues in Mandeville, Covington and Madisonville, the Northshore is a beautiful place to get married. It's also spread out. Guests stay in hotels in one town, the ceremony is in another, and the reception may be across the parish. Planning transportation early keeps the day on schedule and gets everyone home safe.
The four moments that need a ride
- Airport arrivals. Out-of-town guests land at MSY, about an hour away. Arranged pickups mean nobody has to rent a car just for the weekend.
- Hotel to ceremony. A guest shuttle from the main hotel keeps everyone on time and cuts down on parking at the venue.
- Ceremony to reception. If they're at different locations, a scheduled run between them keeps the cocktail hour full.
- The ride home. After the last dance, guests who've been celebrating shouldn't be driving the Causeway or Highway 190. A late shuttle back to the hotels is the most appreciated thing you can plan.
Building a wedding transportation plan
- Count your riders. Ask on the RSVP card, or check the hotel room block, how many guests will want the shuttle.
- Pick one or two pickup hotels. Fewer stops means tighter timing.
- Set a loop schedule. For example, two runs before the ceremony and two or three after the reception.
- Plan for the wedding party separately. The couple and the bridal party often need their own car for photos.
- Share the details. Put the shuttle schedule on your wedding website and in the hotel welcome bags.
Rehearsal dinners, brunches and bachelor parties
The wedding weekend is more than one night. NorthshoreXpress also runs rehearsal dinner rides, day-after brunch trips, and bachelor and bachelorette nights in New Orleans, so the whole weekend is handled by one team.
